Visit to the ATL

I was informed over the weekend by Heather that she has only appeared on the blog once.  It's insane since she is such a MAJOR part of my life, but the truth is we haven't seen each other since Memorial Day 2010.  Sad.  So, let me formally introduce Heather to the blog.  I met Heather August 2000 when we were randomly roomed together in Lupton Hall at Auburn.  I ended up living with her all four years of college (minus one semester when she studied abroad in Spain).  She is originally from Orlando, lived in New York after Auburn, and moved to Atlanta a few years ago to work at Coke.  She was my maid of honor, and I better be hers.  :)  She is fluent in spanish and knows random sayings in about every other language.  She travels ALL OVER THE WORLD for work and pleasure.  She is a Christian and loves the Lord with all her heart.

We had two goals this past weekend.....relax and eat good food.  Living in Guntersville, we have a sad selection of good restaurants.  Scott and I get tired of going to the same restaurants all the time, so I  researched and read ATL food blogs to know where we should go.

First stop, West Egg in west Atlanta.  Great.  Perfect.  Wish I was there.  One of my all time favorite foods is pancakes.  I can eat pancakes morning or night.  These pancakes were super delicious and came with nutmeg spiced honey butter.
Second stop, Fox Brothers BBQ.  I'm going to go ahead and say that this meal was probably one of the best meals of my life.  That's right...I said it.  Heather and I both had a rib sandwich.  Don't think McRib.  It was yummy.  I didn't take pictures because we were with other people that probably wouldn't have understood my attempt to be a foodie/food blogger.
In my world, a meal is NOT complete without dessert.  We went to Morelli's which is voted one of the Top 5 ice cream places in the country.  They have unique flavors like black sesame seed, salted caramel, and pineapple jalapeno.  I chose a not so unique flavor....Peanut Butter Oreo!!  The people working there were truly happy because you would be too working at an ice cream parlor.  She took a waffle cone and dipped it in hot fudge and hand sprinkled sprinkles.  The chocolate was still hot when you got your cone.  I may have made a bit of a mess in front of several people, but it's not good unless you are wearing it.  Right??
Between eating and eating, we relaxed my the pool, took naps, and exercised stayed up really late talking about everything.under.the.sun.  Can't wait until Heather and Brian come visit the country later this month when Mabry Grace makes her grand appearance.
