Katie and Shane Get Married!!!!

Saturday, we had the pleasure of attending a wedding for our good friend Shane.  While I don't know his bride Katie very well, everybody has only the nicest things to say about her.  Katie is a talented artist and florist.  She works at Attalla Florist in Gadsden.  I expected the flowers to be out-of-this-world, and they did not disappoint.  Even Scott kept talking about the flowers and how the wedding must have been planned for the weekend that cherry trees bloom. Congratulations Shane and Katie!!  Have fun in Jamaica.

My First Gender Reveal Party

I received an Evite invitation in my inbox last week....

We are finding out what Baby Jones will be on 3/17/11 and would love to share the news with you on Friday 3/18/11. Please feel free to wear pink or blue based on your best guess of what the baby will be :) There will be punch, sodas, appetizers and a sweet treat for everyone! BYOB.
                                                                                 Shannon & Ted Jones

I'm so excited. Shannon and I were roommates at Auburn our senior year.  Ted and Shannon are getting ready to welcome their first baby in August 2011.  I was going to take 2 gifts (one for a boy and one for a girl), but then I decided Baby Jones needs Auburn gear either way.  I'm betting girl and will be wearing pink on Friday.  I plan to take lots of pictures.  Scott will not be attending.  He loves Ted and Shannon, but he is very much against the couple shower/men at anything baby related trend.  I think he is afraid we would get pregnant by association. :)

Mexican and Karaoke

Friday night, Scott and I went out to dinner at Jalisco's Mexican restaurant and karaoke with our church friends Alaina and Jerika.  Alaina and her son have been living in town with her parents while her husband is in Afghanistan serving our country.  They are leaving tomorrow to go back to Hawaii, so we went out for a small farewell dinner.  Alaina is an awesome singer, so we went on a karaoke tour through town listening to her sing.  We also discovered that she also has always wanted to visit the big red barn in Snead.  Remember this post from 2009.... http://cpartain.blogspot.com/2009/08/flowers-barns-and-vacations.html .  We are definitely going when she is back in town.  We stayed out way past my bedtime (9:00 pm), but we managed to make it to church at 7:00 am Saturday to help with a food drive.  We are going to start giving out boxes of food to needy families in our community the second Saturday of every month.  We had a large turnout, and I'm so excited about this food ministry!!  Scott left early Sunday morning to go to the beach with his co-workers to deep sea fish.  Mom is coming to spend the night at my house tonight since I hate staying alone.  We have big plans to eat Mill Street Deli, watch The Bachelor finale, and go to bed SUPER early because the time change and I aren't getting along.  I'll try to post some pics from our spend the night party and Scott's fishing trip later this week.

Registered Dietitian Day

March 9th is Registered Dietitian Day, and March is National Nutrition Month. I spent the day with other RDs at Cullman Walmart promoting healthy food choices. We were available to shop with customers to explain food labels and how to cook with unfamiliar foods. Nobody wanted us to shop with them, but it was fun to get out of the clinic and do something different.
