One of the most confusing things to me is TIME. I don't understand it at all!! It has been 7 YEARS (7 YEARS!!??!!) this week since my dad passed away. Although I can't remember a time before digital cameras, apparently I didn't have one 7 years ago. I had to take pictures of pictures, so the quality of the pics on this post aren't wonderful. Everywhere I go with my mom, people say that we are twins. Mom and I both agree that I look more like my dad. What do you think?? Hopefully I am a mix of the two.

New Year's Eve 2000.....

Funny, funny story. My mom and dad never let me go out on special nights like New Year's Eve or the Fourth of July. They said that the drunks would be out. Most New Year Eves Rachel and I would stay home and mom would make finger foods and her famous punch. We would drink punch in fun champayne glasses and dress up in hats and act ridiculous. The picture above is from 1999. If you remember, everybody was talking about Y2K and how all the computers would stop working. People were convinced that it was the end of the world. Well, Rachel and I were upstairs watching MTV's New Year show waiting on the ball to drop. Dad decided it would be funny to go in the utility room and hit the power switch for the whole house to lose power as soon as the countdown got to 1. They laughed SOOOOO hard as they heard us screaming at midnight on the other side of the house.

We spent most of today, Saturday, at my in-laws working on our future garden. Actually, I should say that Scott spent most of the day working. I just took a few pictures and goofed off.

To Eat or Not to Eat??

To eat or not to eat?? That is the question. Did you know that WalMart will sell you empty 5 gallon icing buckets?? Yes they will!! I needed a large bucket for punch that I am making for a MASSIVE baby shower, so mom told me to check with the women at the WalMart bakery. They sold me buckets for only $1.00 a piece. Here's the problem. One bucket was heavier than the other....they didn't completely empty one of them. Picture this....I'm in my kitchen with a 5 gallon bucket half filled with icing. REAL ICING. DIABETIC COMA ICING. MADE WITH LARD ICING. It's not like I could haul the vat to a dark room and hide with a bucket that large. If I could have snuck it into my closet without Scott knowing, I would have. Scott watched me as I was standing in the kitchen with the bucket lid off staring at the bottomless pit. He knew what I was thinking. So I did what any sweet toothed girl would do. Does it make me a bad person that I totally put my hand in the icing and started eating it??

What do you know, Joe?

We have been in revival at our church this week, and we were blessed to hear some wonderful messages. A preacher from the Evangelism Association in Montgomery preached on Sunday night. His message was simple but SO TRUE. He preached on 5 SIMPLE TRUTHS:

1. LIFE IS BRIEF (Psalm 90: 4-5; James 4:14; Psalm 39:5)

My life is no longer than the width of my hand. An entire lifetime is just a moment to you; human existence is but a breath. Psalm 39: 5

He started by referring to our lives as a clock or a full day. He asked for each of us to first round our age to the closest 10th. Since I am 27, I rounded my age up to 30 (SCARY!!). He compared our age to a specific time during the day. He said that those closest to 10 years old are at 8:00 in the morning. They are just getting up and getting their day started. People with an age closest to 30 are at high noon and already put half a day of work behind them. Those closest to 50 are at the time of getting off work and heading home. People near age 60 are preparing dinner and getting ready to settle in for the night. Those near age 70 are at 8:00 pm and ready to "call it a day". Those closest to 80 are at 10:00 pm and time for the lights to go out. Sad. It is so true though. The point was you only get to wind the clock of life up ONE TIME and it goes very fast. What time are you at??

I am going to assume that nobody close to age 90 reads my blog. Leave a comment if I am mistaken, but you are probably not going to like what I have to say about age 90 and midnight.

5. JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY!! (Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9; Romans 10:13)

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

I'm sure if the preacher read my blog he would say that I didn't explain things very well, but hopefully you get the point. I should also explain the title of my post since nothing I've typed up to this point is about Joe. Preacher man said that next time somebody ask you, "What do you know, Joe?" don't answer "not much" or meaningless chit chat. Tell Joe and everybody else 1. life is short 2. death is certain 3. judgement is coming 4. hell is awful 5. Jesus is the ONLY WAY!!
