A Few Good Men

The last Sunday of every month our church has a brotherhood breakfast before church, and an all men's choir during morning worship. The choir sang the song below, and it was amazing. I recommend you download it!!

What this dying world could use is a willing Man of God
Who dares to go against the grain and works without applause;
A man who'll raise the shield of Faith, protecting what is pure;
Whose love is tough and gentle; a man whose word is sure.
God doesn't need an Orator who knows what just to say;
He doesn't need authorities to reason Him away;
He doesn't need an army to guarantee a win;
He just needs a Few Good Men.
Men full of Compassion, who Laugh and Love and Cry-
Men who'll face Eternity and aren't afraid to die-
Men who'll fight for Freedom and Honor once again-
He just needs a Few Good Men.
He calls the broken derelict whose life has been renewed;
He calls the one who has the strength to stand up for the Truth.
Enlistment lines are open and He wants you to come in-
He just needs a Few Good Men.
Men full of Compassion, who Laugh and Love and Cry-
Men who'll face Eternity and aren't afraid to die-
Men who'll fight for Freedom and Honor once again-
He just needs a Few Good Men.
Men full of Compassion, who Laugh and Love and Cry-
Men who'll face Eternity and aren't afraid to die-
Men who'll fight for Freedom and Honor once again-
He just needs a Few Good Men.

The Weekend is Almost Gone

Like Junior, I hope you got a chance to get out of the house this wonderful weekend and let the wind blow through your hair.

Scott's Random Accident

Last night at dinner, Scott randomly mentioned that he had a small accident at work. He was apparently cruising timber in dense woods, and he moved his head quickly to the left to dodge some brush and a stick went into his ear. He wasn't in pain or having any trouble hearing, but he could tell that he didn't feel right. When we got home, I called all of my nursing friends to ask what we should do since the walk-in clinics were already closed. I couldn't get in touch with anybody, so we decided to put alcohol in his ear to maybe clean out any infection. Well, we soon discovered that his ear was bleeding. We went to the doctor first thing this morning. Unfortunately the doctor could not tell what was going on inside his ear due to all of the bleeding, so we are scheduled to make a visit to the ENT doctor next week. For now, Scott is taking lots of meds and ear drops as seen in the picture above. He also had to get 3 shots which he HATED. Please keep Scott in your prayers. He is worried since the doctor scared us both by telling him to be careful to not get water in his ear. The doctor said that water in his ear could cause him to be dizzy and never walk a straight line for the rest of his life. Scott is so sick of hearing me tell family on the phone my joke of the day which goes, "We are playing it by ear". Come on, that's funny.

On a much happier note....it is beginning to feel more like fall although I am pretty sure we still have some hot August days ahead. The sunset last night was too pretty not to photograph. Have a blessed weekend!!

Back to Work

Going back to work after a week long vacation is never easy, but thankfully I have good friends to keep me from going insane (the cute babies that I get to hold also help). The picture is of my work bff and myself. Besides getting back into my routine, I decided that I needed a haircut. When I decide it is time for something, I do it. So, I stopped by the nearest salon on my lunch hour and got 6 inches cut off. It feels a lot healthier, and I know it will be easier to dry. Scott wasn't too excited about it, but he thought I had gone a lot shorter then I actually did. I tend to exaggerate. I might have acted like it was cut above my ears when I called him. He was just happy that it wasn't shaved.

Back from Vacation

We are back in town after spending the week in PCB. I was nervous about going during August and hurricane season, but the weather was perfect!!

Mom and I both wore dresses the night we decided to ride go-carts. Mom thought it would be a good idea to tie her dress up, so she wouldn't have an accident. We cracked up and thought she was ridiculous. Rick came in first place, but he pushed everybody out of the way to get to the front of the line to pick out the go-cart at the starting line. Mom passed me and came in second. Scott came in dead last after apparently being t-boned by a girl. He told the guys running the place that his go-cart was broke, but I think it might have been the driver.

If you know me well, you know that I hardly ever wear sunscreen. In the past, I would bake in the sun all day everyday during our beach vacation. You will all be happy to know that Scott and I stayed under an umbrella most of the time. I wore sunscreen everyday and even took naps inside during the hottest part of the day.

Prayer Request

The pastor that married Scott and I, Bro. Bill Evans, fell from a ladder today while painting. He is the pastor at the church Scott's parents attend. We know that his back is broken, and he is at UAB. My in-laws are going to the hospital later today, so I hope to know more soon. Please join me in praying for his healing, family, and church. Please also pray for traveling mercy for all the friends and family traveling to UAB.

Ready for Vacation

I am sooooooooo ready for Friday. I know it's a week early, but I have already started packing for the beach. Scott says I act like an excited little kid. I am excited plus I love packing. Notice I have the important stuff.....diet pepsi, hat, curlers. We are leaving for Panama City early Saturday and staying until the following Saturday. I can't believe I won't be at work for 9 days. It is going to be so good. Gabe is bringing a friend that I will get to meet for the first time. Mom says that she thinks I will really like her. Besides my brother and his "friend", my mom and her husband Rick are also going. We are staying at Rick's condo. The only bad part about the vacation is that I will have to board Junior. He has been boarded before but only for about 4 days. I hope he behaves.

I went outside to take a picture of the hydrangeas. I know they change color based on the acidity of the soil. I can't decide which color I prefer. Won't the flowers make a beautiful homemade corsage or centerpiece??

Flowers, Barns, and Vacations

My mom gave me a gorgeous hydrangea plant for Easter. When I planted it, the blooms were pink like in the picture above. Well, it didn't take too long for the plant to turn completely black. I was positive that it was dead for good, but it is back and more beautiful than ever!! It is now a light purple, blue color. The plan is to have a huge bush next year. I hope to keep fresh hydrangeas in the guest bedroom and use the flowers for upcoming showers. By the way, my friends need to have babies or get married because I have zero showers to plan. :( No pressure.

The pictures above are of a huge red barn turned into a place that has country music and family dances every Saturday night. The barn is only about 15 minutes from our house. I want to go so bad, but the hubs isn't that into it. I'm dying to wear my cowboy boots and line dance. Every Saturday night it is packed. We live in a dry county, so the whole family can go. It reminds me of the movie Sweet Home Alabama and the part where they say, "a baby in a bar". My friend Heather is convinced that it is a place straight out of the movie Hope Floats. I will take pictures if I ever find somebody to go with me. If you think living in a dry county and having a dance barn is country, you should have seen Junior (my yorkie) and I rounding up the cows that got loose yesterday on our walk. Junior would start barking, and they would jump back over the fence. Several baby cows walked with us up and down the road. It was precious.
